Membership

The Communities and Neighbourhood Houses and Centres (CANH) Inc invites membership from any interested organisation or individual. To join CANH as a member please click here to download a Membership Information and Application Form.

Overview

There are four categories of CANH membership:

  • Full members - not-for-profit organisations operating as Community Centres and Neighbourhood Houses involved in: running community programs and activities; coordinating resources and facilities within the community; actively involving volunteers; attempting to meet community needs; and encouraging community involvement
  • Affiliate members - organisations that cannot be full members, but support the above objectives
  • Associate members - adult persons who have agreed to accept the above objectives; and
  • Honorary members - adult persons nominated by the CANH Board of Management for outstanding service.

CANH membership gives you access to relevant information relating to centres and houses including: programs, management issues, sector training opportunities; and community development through:

  • a quarterly newsletter
  • fortnightly e-News (only available to member houses/centres)
  • mail-outs
  • publications
  • website
  • telephone contact with staff
  • seminars/forums and conferences; and
  • CANH library and resource centre

Advocacy

CANH promotes and advocates for the needs and interests of centers and houses to a range of organisations, government departments and other key stakeholders

Unity

CANH provides opportunities for members to work together on common issues at both a regional and state level.

All members can attend and speak at General Meetings, but voting rights apply only to representatives of financial Community Centres and Neighbourhood Houses.
